~* Kita no Zen @ The Gardens *~

About two weeks ago, i had dinner with my former collegemates at Kita no Zen, The Gardens. Perhaps, you will see Hokaido Ichiba first rather than Kita no Zen. Okay, may be i am so used to the price at Sushi Zanmai, i think the food here is expensive for the same thing i can get at Sushi Zanmai. However, it is undeniable that the portions were quite big.

The service on that evening was bad. Our table ordered one Unagi set and it took forever to be served despite the complaints we made. The same went for the billing. It took forever for the bill to reach our table. If you ask me to go again, i will say no. Perhaps, i will go to the next door, Hokaido Ichiba for desserts.

The Unagi set.

Chicken Katsudon.

Unagi Don.

Rice with kakiage (fried vegetable) and shrimps

Rice with beef.

I totally have forgotten the name for all these. Sigh. I'm getting old.

~* Yuzu @ The Gardens *~

Hohoho! I got to choose what i wanted to eat for lunch today and my colleague paid for it. And, i had chosen Yuzu at The Gardens. Most of the reviews i read were on Yuzu's set meals. So, i decided to give it a try.

My set came with unagi, soba, tempura, chawan mushi, rice that tasted like yau mei fan/lap mei fan with some gingko in it, salad, fruits, miso soup, etc and it was RM42. Because of the varieties, i kept on asking myself, "Oh my God, when can i finish this? When can i finish that?"

Meanwhile, my colleague's set was a little bit different whereby his set had sushi and he was served with a different kind of soup. I think it was RM37 or RM38. I could not remember clearly.

Salmon roes! *Gulp*

I'm experiencing weight gain once more =/

*~ He's Back From Dubai! *~

Surprised. Surprised. I got a call from boyfriend early in the morning after he touched down in KL. He asked me out. Whee~ I thought i would be meeting him only on today which is his birthday. But because of several reasons, he rather met up with me yesterday.

He suffered in Dubai without much Asian food and pork. Hence, i suggested that we went to Din Tai Fung for dinner to make him a happy boy again with pork.

Boyfriend with my Garrett popcorn i requested all the way from Dubai. Yes, Garrett popcorn was the only thing i requested from him.

And he also went to Candylicious which is a famous candy shop to buy for me Reese's peanut butter cups in the shape of a snowman knowing that i would love it. It's chocolate again!

Okay. So we had all these for dinner.

Xiu Long Bao
(with pork filling)

Taiwan Spring Roll
with minced pork in it.
I love this so much. Crunchy outside and hot inside!

Pork chop
(the name says it all)
This is another of my favourite. Juicy meat and unlike the fried chicken chop, it is not coated with a thick layer of flour.

House Tofu
The only dish that did not involve pork. He almost ordered the fried green bean with minced pork. Phew... The green layer on top of each beancurd did not really give extra taste to the dish. The sauce was nice but the beancurds tasted very common.

He did not allow me to open it at the restaurant. He insisted that i could only do that once i reached home :(

Oh yes, i immediately unpacked it once i reached home and bathed. Double packaging to keep the freshness of the popcorn. What's so nice about this popcorn? It is Oprah Winfrey's favourite. It has CHEESE flavour. It is something you can't find in Malaysia!

The cheese popcorn tastes like Cheezels but even better than that! It is soooo rich with cheese and i could taste the saltiness of the cheese! On the other hand, the caramel flavour is very different than the one we have here. The smell of the caramel is sooooo nice with a little bit of buttery smell. The size of the popcorn is similar to the 10 sen or 20 sen coin. I hardly find any size smaller than that. Also, i hardly find one which is not coated with flavour!!!

Between the cheese and the caramel flavours, i prefer the caramel one. It's so perfect to be a dessert.

It was so good to hang out with boyfriend after so long. Although only for 10 days, we felt like we were separated for monthsss...! And we waited together at my house for the clock to strike 12 a.m., indicating it would be his birthday! Aww... It was so nice to go through that moment with him.
And once more,..

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DARLING!

*~ When The Oyster Rules ~*

I had dinner with boyfriend after work today. Since he craved for the fried oyster so much, i better fulfilled his wish by dining at Oyster King.

He still prefers the one in Penang.

The set we ordered was supposed to have pumpkin cake but they had finished selling it. Hence, the pumpkin cake was replaced with this glutinous rice. Simple but it was delicious!

The garlic oyster noodle that i wanted to try so badly but it was a disappointment later on. It tasted sooo normal with the alkaline noodle.

~* New Love On Food *~

I had been bringing my love out these two days. On Saturday, we went to have pan mee with boyfriend at SSL Wangsa Maju.

I tested my new love by taking pictures of fried dumplings and...

...Loh Pan Mee (Pan mee in thick soup).
Unlike loh mee, it used pan mee rather than the thick alkaline noodles.

Then today, i brought my new love out to Mid Valley for groceries shopping with mum.

I told mum about the newly-opened Oyster King which is exactly next to Ko Hyang (or right in front of Din Tai Fung) at The Gardens.

The set that we ordered came with a drink,..

...pumpkin cake which tasted like yam cake and,..

...fried oyster! RM9.80 nett!

If you were looking for starchy fried oyster like the one in Penang, this would be the right place.

Hopefully boyfriend does not get crazy looking at the fried oyster.

My new love just makes the food looks tastier!

*~ 1901's Pau & Ko Hyang ~*

Today, i met boyfriend later than usual because he had classes to attend. We went to 1901 for snack to try out the new product in conjunction of the Ramadan month. It had been a really long time since my last visit. I was missing it.

He wore this and he felt great because he got the attention. He was proud that people kept on staring at his shirt him rather than me. New shirt given by his friend.

Luckily i am not too f.ugly to stand next to him. Otherwise, i would have recommended him to only wear this shirt at home or whenever i am not next to him.

Coney Dog Pau.
Instead of sausage bun, they use pau.

*Arrrrrrr......!*

Addictive!

Last time, mum used to buy New York Chicken for me but now, i will go for other choices as well since they also offer chicken as well rather than beef alone. One set includes mashed potato and a drink.

We watched Up in the evening. Nice movie. We laughed all the way till the end of the movie.

Dinner was at Ko Hyang, The Gardens Mall. The Korean cuisine near Din Tai Fung and Cold Storage. The one next to San Terri Cottage. Boyfriend's idea to try the food there.

I love the anchovies. Whenever i have Korean food, i would look forward for that.

Jap Chea.
Glass noodle but it was not fried, i think.
At least i know it was not oily at all compared to other fried glass noodle.

Kim Chi fried rice.
A nice one. ^^
Ko Hyang uses brown rice to serve the customers. Even the Kim Chi fried rice i had used brown rice too.

~* Canton-i *~

As promised to myself, i would treat my mum to dine at Canton-i, Mid Valley once i am done with the temporary position at the law firm. Actually, my last day is going to be on Monday but i treated her today. Of course, she was not the only one when boyfriend and one of my aunts came along.

Flowering Red Amaranth.
It's a must-try. Interesting enough, the flower would bloom slowly when hot water was poured into the glass.

Steamed Piggy Buns with Red Bean Paste.

Crispy Buns with BBQ Pork.
The buns are crispy due this one layer on top of the buns. The layer is like the polo bun's but it is thinner here.

Egg Tarts. Too bad the tarts were not served hot.

Pan-fried Chinese Pancake.
Too oily and nothing special about it!

Fried turnip cake with XO sauce.

Szechuan Style Sizzling Noodles with Seafood.
Actually, with lots of prawns! Oh... ini sungguh menjelakkan. Thanked to the tomato sauce. I expected this to be spicy! It should not be categorised as Szechuan style at all!

Star of the day:
Some kind of rice with mixed roast meats (chicken or duck wing and roast pork), egg, tofu, vegetable and seafood (few slices of octopus meat).

We also ordered Tau Foo Fa and Salted Fish Fried Rice but i could not take pictures in time because both my aunt and mum just could not wait any longer to eat.

*~ Din Tai Fung ~*

I had family dinner at Din Tai Fung, The Gardens. It was an early Mother's Day celebration for mum.

Xiu Long Bao.
You just can't resist this when you are having Shanghainese dishes. Together with the ginger and vinegar. Ummm.....

Spring Rolls.
So crunchy on the outside and so hot on the inside. The spring rolls were stuffed with minced pork.

Fried Pork Chop.
It was totally nicer than having a Shihlin's XXL chicken chop.

Fragrant Basil Chicken.
To me, this dish was quite alright. It might due to the basil that made it tasted a bit funny.

Tofu with Pork Floss and Egg.
Nice presentation.

I will definitely go back to the restaurant again to try other things such especially its Hot and Sour soup and La Mian.

~* Korean Food At Food Garden *~

On the same day i went out with Matthew and my dearest friends, i met up with Mr. [R] for dinner and movie.

Dinner at Food Garden, The Gardens:

Mr. [R]'s Pineapple Fried Rice.

My Dolsot Bibim Bap which Mr. [R] said that he would definitely eat this again!
You shall give the Korean food there a try. Delicious food and a pleasant Korean lady.

Extra Kimchi for me. ^^
