~* Toast & Roast *~

My blog was so dead for the past few months. I was occupied by so many things! Thank God, i am now on annual leave since more than a week ago (but it is gonna end real soon!). During this period, i spent most of my time planning for the upcoming Taiwan trip which will happen in February 2012 and re-organising all the folders and files in my laptop. And now, i am here to revive my blog!

Anyway, my colleagues and i discovered this hidden gem in SS2 few months ago, selling melt-in-mouth BBQ pork ("char siew") and Hakka mee.

The melt-in-mouth char siew.
Seriously sinful and able to make one feels extremely guilty. Few pieces of this is enough to makes you think that your blood arteries are blocked and cholesterol level has increased.

Hakka mee with minced meat.

Thereafter, we visited this shop quite often for lunch until recently because we are bored with the same food. It is not an ideal place to visit always but definitely a good choice for sinful char siew and delicious Hakka mee.

*~ New Paris @ SS2 (Revisit) ~*

Before Lim (the joker in cap) went back to Australia in July for more torturing lessons, we had a dinner with him at New Paris in SS2. It was my second visit.

Like my first visit, we had Champagne Chicken...
(I just don't get it why the watermelon balls had to be there. Perhaps, it should be our dessert and not to be eaten together with the chicken as part of the main course.)

... and Guinness Stout Pork Ribs.
I enjoyed having the gravy with rice!

The following dishes are those i never tried during my first visit:

House special Beancurd with Minced Meat.
It was not as dry as it looked and had exceeded my expectation. :)

Sweet and Sour Pork.
One of the food in the joker's list that he wanted to eat before going back to Australia. It was just alright and had nothing to shout about. Not the best sweet and sour pork i tried.

Kam Heong Lala.
The sauce was nice, especially with rice. It made us asking for more rice. However, there were many empty shells or the meat was very small. =/

Stir Fried Baby Kailan with Garlic to balance the meal.

~* Kissaten - Revisit *~

After class on Tuesday, Sharon, Seak Ling, Keh Ming and i went to Kissaten at Jaya One for lunch. Sharon wanted to give it a try after reading my post about one week ago. So, the three of them ordered the set lunch. The set lunch came with free raw salmon (sashimi) and 10% discount on total bill.

Keh Ming and Seak Ling ordered the Salmon Steak set. Besides the free sashimi, each of the set had a side salad, white rice, chawan mushi and miso soup.

Meanwhile, Sharon had the Chicken Katsudon set which had the same side dishes as the Salmon Steak set. I love eating the onion omelet - one of the reasons i will order this kind of rice at Japanese restaurants.

The smell of the Chawan mushi was so nice but i had no idea how it tasted because i did not try this.

I wanted to order the mentaiko spaghetti so badly but in the end, i ordered the Teriyaki Pork Burger after telling myself that i need to watch out on the portion of my food.

The burger was alright but i had difficulty in eating it because of the mayonnaise. Too much of mayo that made me felt soooo jelak. Because i could not fit the burger into my mouth, i eliminated the burger layer by layer. It was a wrong decision! By the time i wanted to eat the pork patty -trying to save the best for last- i almost could not take it anymore. The mayo made me felt jelak and eating the pork patty alone doubled the jelak-ness.

Nicely done egg yolk.

I thought the sashimi would be served first but i was wrong. It became the "dessert". The thickness of the salmon satisfied Seak Ling, the raw salmon lover.

The Rich Choco Pudding was nice when first put into the mouth but later on it had the smell of a fake chocolate made of rubber. You know, if you go to those souvenir shops, you will find the fake chocolate made of rubber that has the smell of chocolate - but not too real.

*~ Kissaten @ Jaya One ~*

Boyfriend took me out for dinner at Kissaten in Jaya One on the 4th day of Chinese New Year as our belated Valentine's dinner because he knew that i really wanted to go there after reading some blog reviews. Thank you, dear...

Cold Ginger Honey (RM5.90).
It tasted like my mum's sweet potato tong sui with ginger soup.

We ordered a side dish, sandwich, main course and dessert. Surprisingly, the main course was served first. Perhaps, the waiter could see our hungry face. Yes, we were terribly hungry the moment we reached there.

Salmon Steak Pasta (RM19.00).
It really gave boyfriend and i a lips-smacking moment! Love the garlic sauce on top of the salmon steak meanwhile the pasta was tossed with olive, onion and pepper. I don't mind having this again during my next visit. So worth it!

Chicken Katsu Sandwich (RM12.90).
Can you see the thick chicken meat in it?! Also in the sandwich was some cabbage and wasabi. The taste was normal but satisfying when biting the piece of chicken in the sandwich.

Stewed Pork Slice (RM6.90).
For those who dislike the strong pork smell, don't bother ordering this. Boyfriend and i agreed that this was average. At least, it was worth trying.

Cheesecake (RM6.90) for dessert!
Sorry to say that i still prefer the cheesecake from San Terri Cottage which is much smoother!

Like the concept of East-meets-West menu at an affordable price range. Argh, can't wait to try their Mentaiko Spaghetti! You can check out their menu here.

*~ Craft Brews @ Mutiara Damansara ~*

So, i had used the free voucher from Craft Brews yesterday for dinner together with boyfriend and mum. I seriously fall in love with the ambiance there. Cozy, spacious, and nice songs. It looks like a place for fine dining but with a closer look, the staffs there wear casual. Boyfriend said, "Like farmers." But to me, they are better than that.

The beer bottles are used to decorate the place. The unique beer bottle packaging reminds me of Kung Fu Panda. Don't ask me why because i don't know how to explain to you but i like it.

The complimentary soup.
I know it is a tomato-based soup but it was really sour and at the same time, a little bit salty to me. Is it a good thing having this as a starter so that the customers will crave further for the main course?

Craft Brews Pasta.
A cream-based pasta with bacon strips and sliced shiitake mushrooms. Instead of using parsley to garnish, they use bacon strips. And usually, we see parsley is the only green veggie we can find sitting on top of the pasta but this is different. They actually toss the pasta together with veggie. Not forgetting, the pasta comes with a generous amount of sliced mushrooms.

Lemon Grass Butter Dory Fillet
...that is served with a generous portion of coleslaw. The fish tasted a bit of alkaline and it was a little bit salty. Perhaps, the alkaline taste was due to the flour they used. But no doubt that the capers and white wine (if i were not mistaken) infused cream sauce is superb!

Malt and Maple Glazed Ribs.
The meat is so tender and juicy. And the moment i cut the meat, i could smell vinegar. Aww... Delicious! But wait, i thought the ribs were going to be real sweet because of malt and maple. Still delicious, anyway. Boyfriend was the one having this but i just took a rib from him. And everytime i just wanted to look at him eating, he would accuse me of wanting the whole plate. =/ Anyway, boyfriend and i have the same thought that it would be nicer if they had served the baked potato wedges like Christang instead of this crunchy fried wedges though it was still nice to eat. But the combination would have been better with the baked potato wedges.

When the bill came, i was smiling all the way. You know what certain businesses do, for example, when they say, "Buy one and get one free... The free item will the one with the price lower than what you're paying for." Since, it was a table for three and we supposed to get free meal for two, i expected that we needed to pay for the most expensive one. I was wrong! Don't understand? Look at the receipt below and you will understand.

Mum was happy with the food. She kept on saying that the next time i plan for anyone's birthday or for my own birthday, i shall have it here. I also could not believe it when she told me the price is pretty reasonable. And it is so easy to reach this restaurant. As long as the Tesco at Mutiara Damansara is on your left, just go straight until you reach the junction. At the junction, just look front left and Craft Brews is there!

Dearest beer lovers, this is a place for you all with different types of beers that you can't find at anywhere else. For more info, visit Craft Brews' Facebook page. I will definitely come back again especially for the beer since i did not get to try it this time. If bro read this, i think he would go. Or perhaps, he really should give it a try.

~* New Paris @ SS2 *~

After Hannah Tan's concert which was on last Saturday, Amanda, Siaw Lin, Lim, Raphael, Wen Hao and i went to New Paris Restaurant at SS2 for dinner. Seriously, we spent a lot of time thinking where to eat before deciding to dine at this restaurant.

Guinness Stout Pork Ribs.
The sauce was so starchy and slimy until i had difficulty in scooping the sauce. The only time i could taste the stout was when i ate the sauce alone. Otherwise, it was similar to the Marmite pork ribs.

I sent this picture to boyfriend who is in Dubai right now without pork there when we were chatting yesterday. He "screamed" in the chatroom. :P

Claypot Tofu.
Love the crabmeat and they were very generous with the mushrooms. I flooded my plate of rice with the gravy. Yummmm....

Yau mak.
Okay, nothing much about this besides it was almost gone in few seconds. Not because it was delicious but because of the small portion.

Deep Fried Squid.
It was delicious but the sauce for this was way too sour as if the vinegar is very cheap.

Champagne Chicken.
The specialty there. Okay. Something new. It is usually pineapple pork ribs and now we have watermelon chicken. I know it sounds weird but i am alright with the combination. And the chicken tasted like pork. This dish was the most expensive among all; even more expensive than the squid!

Note: When you say you want the dishes to be small, they really mean it! So, be prepared.

Besides the chicken, the rest were very reasonable. I will definitely go back again.

~* Pork Burger @ Christang *~

ABSOLUTELY NONHALAL

Last Saturday, boyfriend and i fetched mum together for dinner at Christang which is so-called very famous for its pork burger. Boyfriend had been wanting to eat it so badly since after i showed him a few blog reviews. The surrounding was very quiet that you may just want to park your car as near as you can to the restaurant.

Green Heaven mocktail.
Combination of apple and lychee juice. I thought what so nice about this drink. It was actually very common but overrated and expensive!

Mum's Portugese Noodle.
It is a recommendation in the menu but yet, it was another disappointment. Tasteless and i did not like the noodle with strong alkaline smell!

My P3 Burger.
"Grilled pork patty with back bacon and minced pork chili con carne"
They were very generous with the minced pork. The pork patty tasted like Ramly Burger when i took a bite of it without mixing with the minced pork, but the patty was definitely juicier and more tender!

Christang has extended its menu. Last time, there were only P1 to P6. Now, it is up to P9.

Boyfriend's P7 Burger.
"The most popular of all the pork burgers"
Just that the minced pork was also minced with some chili and lots of petai!
If you feel like eating petai in a Western way, you may opt for this.

On that evening, I liked the wedges the most than the rest.
Simple but i liked them!

The pork burgers page.

To us, food and beverages there are quite pricy. May be it is because you can't really find all these at other places. That's why Christang has the advantage to price it a little bit higher. Boyfriend and i agree that we won't go back to Christang so soon.

~* Grace Is Back With Bickies! *~

Okay. Grace is back from Australia. Sharon, Wei-I, boyfriend and i met up with her for dinner at Tropicana Mall.

Santarina with products of Australia.

We had our dinner at Taiwan Street. Nothing to be excited about.

Wei-I's beef noodle.

Sharon's Spicy Chicken Chop Rice.

My Salted Chicken Rice which was a disappointment.
I seriously dislike chicken with one kind of taste that once you eat, you would know the meat had been frozen for quite some time. That was what happened to my Salted Chicken Rice. The same thing happened when i tried Sharon's chicken chop.

Grace's Braised Duck Noodle.

Boyfriend's Braised Duck Rice.
At least the duck meat was quite alright; better than mine.

Next stop: Bad Ass Coffee that Wei-I strongly recommended.

Girls only.

Group picture!

More pictures here.

Boyfriend and i were at Tropicana Mall from 12 noon to 10 at night. How much he paid for the parking? Only 2 bucks! So worth it. Hehe...

*~ Otak-Otak Place @ Tropicana ~*

Boyfriend and i had our lunch at Otak-Otak Place, Tropicana Mall before the movies. Oh yes, we watched two movies - Ninja Assassin (too much of "butchering") and 2012 (it made me wanted to cry so badly!). 2012 was free if you remembered that i posted about it few weeks back.

Anyway, Otak-Otak Place is being decorated in a way that recalls back our memories.

Look at some of the games we used to play.

Happy Family!

The boys' favourite.

Blackcurrant Longan.
Seriously, nothing much about this and i don't know why it is a favourite or recommendation.

Nasi Lemak Otak-Otak.
The otak-otak was not as delicious as i thought. The santan taste was just toooo strong and i could not really taste the fish. I suspected that the otak-otak used for this nasi lemak was not fresh. But the sambal was really GOOD!

Even my Mee Bandung Muar was served with sambal.
The portion was not big but enough for me. It was slightly different than the one we can get at those Malay stalls. Unlike others, the gravy was not that thick and it had grind peanuts in it. Love this...

Hehe... Love this picture...
