~* Hokkien Mee @ Aik Yuen *~

Bf told me about this place behind Tawakal Hospital which is well known for their lala (clams) and Hokkien mee. So, we went there for dinner today. The name of the place is Restoran Aik Yuen and it is really behind Tawakal Hospital. Hence, finding it shouldn't be a problem to anyone.

Garlic!
"Oh... How do i live without you~"

Poor cat. It came to us... Errr... I should say that i made it came to us.

Hokkien Mee.

Yee Mee.

And both plates came with big chunks of pork lard. I don't know why they are well known for their Hokkien Mee. To me, it was just average. Nothing to shout about. Perhaps, i am not a fan of Hokkien Mee or i don't really know how to consider a plate of Hokkien mee as delicious.

Then we also had a plate of Sweet and Sour Lala. We saw a lot of people ordering this style of lala. When i first ate it, i told myself that the taste was so familiar. Then i realised, "Oh... My mum knows how to cook the exact same sauce. This is her way of cooking lala and prawn at home, using both ketchup and chili sauce and adding in chopped garlic and ginger." So, this lala dish had failed to impress me!

The plate of lala was RM10.00 and the bill for food alone was RM22.00. So i assume that each plate of noodle should be RM6.00. But looking at the portion, i think each plate should only worth RM5.00.

I regretted for not ordering their well known fried fish cake. It smelled so nice when the tables on our left and right had it. Oh well, we still can go back there anytime :)

~* Dim Sum @ Mee Bon *~

Dim sum at Kedai Kopi Mee Bon, Jalan Ipoh was not that great. Limited selections with no fried stuff and unimpressive presentation. I would love my dim sum session to be completed with fried stuff. At least it worked to prevent me from binge eating in the late afternoon. But i did snap pictures of the chee cheong fun and loh mai kai. Excluding the chee cheong fun and loh mai kai, only 5 types of steam dim sum were ordered. Others did not seem to attract me.

Chee Cheong Fun.
The soy sauce did not taste nice with the chee cheong fun. Meanwhile, the chili was not fragrant and spicy. It tasted bland. I wish it could be spicier.

Loh Mai Kai.
It was simple with only glutinous rice and chicken. No mushroom. No waxed sausage. To me, this was the best during the dim sum session though it was oily. Come on... it's always meant to be oily. I can consider, but not must, going back there again if i am really craving for a loh mai kai.

But i truly enjoyed the session with my company...

*~ Yakiniku @ Pandan Indah ~*

Last Saturday, bf and i went for dinner at Yakiniku in Pandan Indah for some grilled meat We had bacon, as recommended in the menu and by other bloggers, and lamb shoulder. I love how the meat were thinly sliced. Because of this reason also, it was not that super cheap as claimed by other bloggers. Just reasonable. The portion was quite small even though the picture makes it looked big. Perhaps, it is really cheap when compared to other restaurants offering grilled meat, especially Korean BBQ.

Bacon (RM5.90)

Lamb shoulder (RM6.90)

After the bacon got grilled.
The sauce that they put on the meat before grilling really made the meat tasted so delicious. But bf and i also dipped into the condiment provided. The condiment was salty like soy sauce but a little bit sour at the same time due to lime juice they squeezed into it, i think. The meat and condiment really went well with white rice! So appetizing that i could have another bowl of rice if i had wanted to!

We shared a plate of Kimuchi Fried Rice (RM7.90) that came with a bowl of Miso soup. Forget about the Miso soup as it was really tasteless. Similar to our sambal fried rice but with the hint of the kimuchi's sourness. It had chicken, shrimps, filament crab stick and squid rings in it! Two thumbs up for this fried rice!

Tempura Squid Rings (RM6.90)
I love this too for no reason. Perhaps, just like the grilled meat, it went well with the white rice when we dipped into the Thai chili sauce provided or the condiment for the grilled meat.

Bf and i shared Red Plum Ice-blended (RM5.00). This was real good while having the grilled meat. Thirst-quenching drink. But you might feel dehydrated later on. It was similar to the "kat zhai suen mui" (lime with asamboi) drink. I don't know about you all. But sometimes, i do feel dehydrated after having drinks similar to "kat zhai suen mui."

While the price for the grilled meat was just reasonable, the rest of the items we ordered were really cheap! Bf and i have vowed to go back again!

For more details, check out the reviews by Cheesie and Eric Yong. They actually listed out the price for other items in the menu. And Cheesie will tell you how to get there at the end of her review. It is so near to Steven's Corner. Bf and i managed to find this place easily.

~* Happy Mother's Day *~

I celebrated Mother's Day last week with mum when i thought she would be going for a trip this week. But eventually, the trip was canceled. Anyway, we went to Mun Kee Steam Fish Head in Happy Garden for dinner. Mum and i had never been there before but bf did.

We ordered :

Ginger Steam Fish.
It was so great to have this on a cold rainy Saturday evening with minced ginger covering the whole plate of fish. Piping hot! RM 21.00 for this "shun yu tao". Besides ginger, you can choose to have the normal way of steaming, Nyonya, sambal or another one or two more styleswhich i have forgotten.

Salted Egg Fried Chicken (RM12.00).
Very strong salted egg taste but it was not too salty. Very crispy on the outside but tender and juicy on the inside. Presentation was not really that impressive but taste wise, it was alright.

Sweet Potato Leaves with Belacan (RM8.00)
One of my favourite veggies. Hot and spicy with the cili padi. It was just nice and not overcooked.

I was shocked when i looked at the addresses stated in the receipt. I asked myself, "Why am i here when there is another one which is much nearer?" =_="

Anyway, bro, his gf, mum, bf, aunts and i went out for dinner yesterday at Yee Sang Fatt in Pudu to celebrate Mother's Day again. That's why i have been staying at home and don't need to go out to celebrate Mother's Day today.

*~ Zombified ~*

Ah... It's 4 in the morning right now. I woke up two hours ago only to do my graduation project. And currently, i am still working on it =/ Pathetic, huh? I just feel like using five minutes of my life right now to blog.

I have been screwing up my sleeping time these few days. I can't really focus at home during day and night. Really unproductive. So, i actually sleep at around 10 or 11 something and wake up 3 in the morning to work on my graduation project. But today, it's slightly different when i woke up at 2.

Okay. So, i had watched Iron Man 2 and Ip Man 2 yesterday with bf at Mid Valley. Iron Man, like what other people have been saying, was just average. I just enjoyed the sarcasm and a little bit sense of humour of Iron Man. Ip Man, on the other hand, was better than Iron Man but i still prefer the first Ip Man. It was definitely expected that Donnie Yen was going to win in the end, right? Then again, i really appreciate some parts of the movie that made the Chinese proud to be themselves irregardless of which country we come from.

Anyway, after few days of hell, i got my sweet reward from bf even though it was a simple one. It was the Famous Amos i had been craving for. I got Raisin & Oatmeal but bf did not really like it because of no chocolate chips. I am definitely fine with it. I still love the cookies without chocolate chips.

Alright. I have taken more than five minutes. It's time to get back to work. By the way, i will continue feeling in hell until this semester ends. Yesterday was just a break.

~* Ouch-ing Badly *~

Perhaps, this might be the worst time of the year with so much pressure coming from different aspects of life at the same time. When i am typing this out, my eyes are so swollen until i don't see my double eyelids in the mirror after crying out loud for more than an hour last night.

Last night, i faced the exact same thing that happened two years ago. Although i had been the one making that stupid suggestion alone, yesterday it was both of us who wanted to make the same stupid suggestion. Only when i had got my mind straight, i realised it would be a terribly wrong thing to do.

If it had to take place, i would definitely feel worse than two years ago and it would be the worst. It did not have to be that way. And i definitely don't want to feel the same thing and go through the same situation i had two years back. And i definitely don't want to put him the same situation again like i had been. And both of us still have a long way to go. Most important is we still feel the same way about each other.

My eyes are so tired right now and headache strikes.

Edited:
My patience has been tested since this morning. I did my best. At the end of the day, i got my worst. What is left now is 0% patience, 100% anger and frustration. Nobody's fault. It was only the timing itself fooled me.

*~ The Unplanned One Day Trip ~*

Ah... The one day trip to Genting was not supposed in my schedule for the past 7 days until bf invited me on Tuesday evening to join his friends for the trip on Thursday.

Bf and i reached Genting at 10.30 and without wasting our time, we immediately went to the outdoor theme park. It was great that we entered the theme park early because there were not many people at that time and we got to enjoy the rides without having to wait for so long - except for the Fun Kart that, according to bf, we waited for nearly 1.5 hours. But more and more people came in when the day got later.

I'm not trying to be racist here but just to share with you that i felt like i was in India because most of the visitors in the theme park were tourists from India or countries like Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh. I don't know how to differentiate them.

And something that i could not forget when we were queuing up for Fun Kart. Bf and i did not realise that our queue was being cut by few uncles while watching other people racing. Fine. i thought of keeping my mouth shut until the uncle continued shouting for his friends to come and cut the queue right in front of my eyes. I looked at one uncle climbing in and i asked, "Hey! What are you trying to do?!" One of the uncles trying to defend themselves showed us a document and babbling.

I did not even understand what he was trying to say but looking at his document, it was a passport! I never know showing passport in Genting would give you the privilege to enjoy the rides first. Perhaps, i should show my MyKad to prove that i am local and government always insists that locals should be prioritised first.

Bf seemed to ignore what the uncles tried to justify and told them it was so unfair for us and the rest of the people who were queuing up at the back. Eventually, they let both of us to go first and the remaining people at the back chose to shut up. Uncles who behaved worse than kids! I know Genting is a tourism spot, but it does not mean that tourists can do anything they want including taking some unethical actions. Some other tourists still queued up before they got to enjoy their rides!

Anyway, bf and i felt quite warm in Genting until it rained cats and dogs in the afternoon. While both of us had most of the rides we wanted, bf's friends only managed to enjoyed a few of them because they arrived later and most of the rides were close due to the heavy rain.

I like this picture. It's so colourful :)

I like this too because, again, it is so colourful! :)
At first, bf was so reluctant to go for Merry-Go-Round but i was so eager to ride on it! Don't ask me why but i just felt so. I had to do some silly expressions to make him agreed. Because it was still raining heavily, the guy who took charge of this ride let us stayed in it for as long as we wanted.

Some of bf's friends.
I like this picture too because it looks like it is framed.

The group picture.

It rained nonstop on that day. After going to the arcade, we really had nothing to do and hence, spent our time in the hotel room. His friends intended to stay one night but not bf and i. So, we still had to leave even though it was still raining. However, we stopped at Gohtong Jaya for dinner. I asked mum what's nice for dinner there but bf and i still ended up in the wrong restaurant. But thank God, the food at Restoran Guan Kie was still nice!

Since there were two of us, we could only order two dishes. Meat was a must but i decided not to order veggie because i was craving for beancurd with hot thick gravy.

Beancurd with minced pork (RM10.00).

Fried sliced pork in i-don't-know-what sauce (RM10.oo).
It was their own special sauce, perhaps. Don't get fooled by its presentation. It was actually delicious, crunchy and somehow different.

But don't order this if you are craving for big chunky pork.

I really enjoyed myself so much, putting away my graduation project for a day. It was just for one day, to a place i had been there for so many times before, but i felt so happy... just like a kid again.
